Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership have backed Duncan’s campaign for a new direct Oxford to Bristol rail service that could make the re-opening of Corsham station a reality.
Following a letter organised by Duncan from a group of 10 MPs to the Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin, calling for the introduction of the service, the Local Enterprise Partnership has written its own letter to Mr McLoughlin voicing its support.
Duncan will be highlighting this backing to the Secretary of State directly in a slot he has secured at Transport Questions in the House of Commons.
“Having already enlisted the support of the other MPs with constituencies along the route, it’s great to have now secured the backing of the Local Enterprise Partnership.
“The Enterprise Partnership and local businesses have exciting plans for growth in Corsham, which would be boosted by a re-opened station in the town connecting it to cities like Bristol and Oxford.
“I am grateful to Swindon and Wiltshire LEP for making clear the economic benefits of our plans, and am working with other business organisations and employers to secure their backing too.”
