Duncan secures Higher Education promise from Prime Minister

Duncan has questioned the Prime Minister, David Cameron, on ensuring that plans for higher education are made fairer.

In yesterday’s Prime Minister’s Questions, Duncan asked:

“Does the Prime Minister agree that, if graduates are to be asked to make a greater contribution to the cost of their education, in order to be fair those with the greatest ability to pay should make the greatest contribution?”

The Prime Minister stated that he was in agreement. He said:

“We want a proper element of progressivity. That is what Lord Browne proposes, and we are going to amend that to make it even more progressive. …

“I hope that we can get all-party agreement for what would be a good and proper reform of higher education for the long term in our country.”
