Deputy Prime Minister joins Duncan to see ambitious plans for Chippenham

A surprise guest joined Duncan in Chippenham for a meeting with the Local Enterprise Partnership, Network Rail, Wiltshire Council and local businesses to discuss how to get some real benefit for the town centre from Swindon and Wiltshire’s new Growth Deal: the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg.

Nick introduced Growth Deals to give local communities the money and power to improve infrastructure and support for businesses in their area.

Duncan showed Nick the ambitious plans local groups have come up to make the station a gateway to Chippenham town centre with better pedestrian and cycle links.

Nick Clegg said:

“Duncan has an established reputation here.

“It’s because of Duncan’s effort a lot more money is coming.

The cranes we can see on the A350 are down to him.

If you want an MP that gets things done, he’s the one.”
