Join Duncan’s campaign for an Oxford-Bristol rail service and a re-opened Corsham station

Duncan is leading the campaign to introduce a new direct Oxford-to-Bristol rail service, which could call at Chippenham and a re-opened Corsham station.

He’s already secured the backing of the nine other MPs with constituencies along the route, as well as local business groups including Business West and Swindon & Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

Add your voice below to support Duncan’s campaign and help make this new service and the re-opening of Corsham station a reality.

Kindly inform the local residents of Corsham that it is you, Duncan and not the Tory bandwagon jumper from Yorkshire who has been dedicated to this campaign from the start.

I was a frequent user of the old bristol to oxford rail service before it stopped some 10? years ago and would welcome its reintroduction. I’ve waited nearly an hour at didcot for a connecting service to oxford.

I have been supporting the reopening of Corsham Station since moving here in 1989, it would be wonderful if my grandchildren (not even born then), who are now 21 and 19 and live here, could use it!

Great idea. Probably the only realistic way to get Corsham station re-opened

Let us hope your nine colleagues, representing towns along the route, will be as proactive in encouraging their local communities & businesses to signify their support for the reinstatement of the Bristol/Oxford as you have been. When the SRA severed the service in May 2003, a seat was hard to find during the morning/evening commute and patronage throughout the day was growing steadily. Had Wiltshire committed funds to the building of Corsham Station when the SRA suddenly withdrew Rail Passenger Partnership funding (as Hampshire CC did at Chandler’s Ford) the flow of passengers from Corsham would have ensured the Minister could not truthfully have commented “so few passengers on that great big train”, Albeit a comment which made me suspect he had been advised the Bristol/Oxford was served by Intercity rolling stock!

These new rail services would be a great imrprovement and would reduce the need for so many commuters to drive to work. I worked in Cosrham for 6 years over 8 years ago when many new houses were benig built near Peel Circus. The need for a station at Corsham is so strong and the site for re-opening station appears to be uncomplicated on a straight run of track. Please take this proposal seriously.
