Duncan visited Wiltshire Mind’s drop-in session in Chippenham, listening to local residents as they spoke about difficulties accessing care for mental health patients in Wiltshire.
Residents explained how they thought these services could be improved, as well as sharing their own personal experiences of dealing with mental illness. Residents told Duncan of the invaluable assistance that Wiltshire Mind provides and how this great service has helped so many of them.
Wiltshire Mind is a voluntary organisation which provides people experiencing mental health issues with support through a range of services, such as counselling, advice, campaigning and education.
“Mental health services have long been the Cinderella of the NHS, but there truly is no health without mental health.
“Services locally do need to improve and I am hopeful that new management at the Avon & Wiltshire Partnership NHS Trust will turn things around. Clearly charities like Wiltshire Mind have much to offer too, but they need support from individuals and the NHS to do so.”
